Hungry Hill - Hungry Hill (2251ft/686m) is the highest peak in the Caha Mountain range that forms part of the backbone of mountains running down the centre of the Beara Peninsula in County Cork in south-western Ireland. Daphne Du Maurier took the name of this mountain as the title of her novel Hungry Hill (London, Gollancz, 1943), a book about the fortunes of the Brodericks who lived in the area and whose saga was based upon the real history of the Puxleys, a local landlord family who controlled copper mining activities in the region throughout the nineteenth century.
