Discrete Fourier transform - In mathematics, the discrete Fourier transform (DFT), sometimes called the finite Fourier transform, is a Fourier transform widely employed in signal processing and related fields to analyze the frequencies contained in a sampled signal, solve partial differential equations, and to perform other operations such as convolutions. The DFT can be computed efficiently in practice using a fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm.

Discrete-time Fourier transform - The Fourier transform of a function x[n]\, of a discrete "time" variable n\, (where n\, is an integer) is called the discrete-time Fourier transform (or DTFT), and is mathematically the inverse of a Fourier series expansion. Equivalently, it can be derived from the continuous Fourier transform of a sequence of regularly spaced impulses with amplitudes x[n]\,.

Fractional Fourier transform - The fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is a linear transformation generalizing the continuous Fourier transform, which can be thought of as the Fourier transform to the n-th power where n need not be an integer — thus, it can transform a function to an intermediate domain between time and frequency. Its applications range from filter design and signal analysis to phase retrieval and pattern recognition.

Quantum Fourier transform - The quantum Fourier transform is the discrete Fourier transform with a particular decomposition into a product of simpler unitary matrices. Using this decomposition, the discrete Fourier transform can be implemented as a quantum circuit consisting of Hadamard gates and controlled phase shift gates.
