English suites - The English Suites (BWV 806-811) are a series of six keyboard suites by Johann Sebastian Bach, so-called because (according to tradition), they were written for 'an English gentleman'. They are both earlier and often considered grander than the French Suites, and each of the English Suites begins with an imposing overture.
