Articles of Confederation - The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, commonly known as the Articles of Confederation, formed the first governing document of the United States of America. They combined the 13 colonies of the American Revolutionary War into a new sovereign federal state and nation, called a confederation.
Congress of the Confederation - The Congress of the Confederation or the United States in Congress Assembled was a body of representatives appointed by the legislatures of the United States from March 1, 1781 to March 4, 1789. It was the immediate successor to the Second Continental Congress; in fact, the membership of the Second Continental Congress automatically carried over to the Congress of the Confederation when the latter was created by the ratification of the Articles of Confederation.
